SOARing Through September: Celebrating Student Success with Monroe Moolah

I hope this newsletter finds your family well and that your student is settling into a positive routine here at Monroe Middle School! September has been an incredibly busy and productive month, filled with opportunities for learning, growth, and connection.

We are thrilled to continue our positive behavior program, Monroe Moolah, which is central to fostering a supportive and structured environment. Our program recognizes students who consistently demonstrate our school-wide expectations, known as SOAR:

  • Safety

  • Ownership

  • Attitude

  • Respect

When students are "caught" demonstrating SOAR expectations, they earn Monroe Moolah to spend at our school store! This store provides fun, tangible rewards that motivate students to make great choices every day. It's a fantastic way to celebrate their positive contributions to our school community.

The success of the Monroe Moolah program relies on keeping the school store stocked with prizes students love. If you are inclined to support our positive behavior initiatives, we welcome donations to help us purchase items like sports gear, popular school supplies, snacks, and small games. To easily donate items directly to our school store, please click here! Your generosity directly impacts our students and helps reinforce the positive culture of Monroe Middle School.

Thank you again for your partnership and support. We are looking forward to an excellent month of October!

What Being An Eagle Means To Me

Written By Deng Manyang, Monroe 8th Grader

Being a Monroe Eagle can be as simple as holding the door open, saying "please and thank you,” or giving a smile to someone who looks like they’re having a bad day. It’s also about showing respect to your teachers, your classmates, and yourself. These actions may not seem like much to an average person, but they help create a school where everyone feels safe, valued, and included.

But on a deeper level, being an Eagle is about more than just good manners. It’s about who you are and what you choose to do. It means being honest, and doing the right thing when nobody's watching. It means showing up every day with a good attitude and a willingness to learn, grow, and try your best.

Being an Eagle can also be about being brave. It takes courage to speak up, to ask for help when you need it, support a classmate who’s feeling left out. It’s about standing with your values, even if others don’t. True Eagles don’t follow what's around them. It states in the movie, Wonder “How can you fit in if you were born to stand out.” Which tells us that standing out can be more important than fitting in.

It also means being part of something bigger. Monroe Eagles look out for each other. We help each other up, cheer each other on, and celebrate with each other. When someone fails, we can help them get on the right track. When someone struggles, we offer our support. We know that we rise higher when we rise together.

And above all, being a Monroe Eagle means being kind. Kindness is the key to everything we do. Whether we are in the classroom, in the building, on the field, or in the community, we choose to treat others with patience, and respect.

So while being a Monroe Eagle might start with simple actions, it becomes something much bigger. It becomes a way of thinking, a way of living, and a way of being.

We are respectful.

We are responsible.

We are ready.

We are kind.

We are Monroe Eagles.
