Dear Monroe Community,

Last year, Community Unit School District 200 launched a new online registration portal for families to use when enrolling their students for school. CUSD 200 will continue to utilize the online registration process for the 2025-26 school year.

Registration for returning families for the 2025-26 school year is now open with a deadline of Friday, May 9.

To begin the online registration process for returning students, parents/guardians can navigate to our district website (www.cusd200.org) and then click <Enrollment> found in the upper right portion of the page, or click this link. Then, select the <Register Returning Student> button.

If a family has children that span across multiple CUSD 200 buildings, the receiving school of your oldest child will ensure all documents submitted in person are sent to the other appropriate buildings so that families only have to visit one location.

YouTube/Google Services Permission Notice

Depending upon the level of your student, you may see two new permission screens as a part of online registration.

Beginning with the 2025-26 school year, educational institutions must annually review and reconfirm parental consent to grant access to specific Google services if students are under 18 years old.

One of the services parents must now give consent for on an annual basis is YouTube. However, parents/guardians will only see a YouTube consent for students in grades 6-12. YouTube defaults to ON for students 6-12, so you must explicitly choose NO if you do not wish your student to have access to YouTube. Please note, YouTube is a widely used supplemental resource used to enhance instruction. At higher grade levels, students may also be using YouTube as a research resource to complete assignments. If you are a family that chooses NO, you may need to specifically work out accommodations with your student's teacher(s). Denying access to YouTube (selecting NO) will only result in a student’s independent navigation to www.youtube.com. A teacher still has the ability to embed YouTube videos inside their Google classroom or Google slide decks for students to view for academic purposes.

In CUSD 200, YouTube will automatically be turned OFF for independent navigation for all students in grades kindergarten-5. Therefore, if you have a student in elementary school, you will not see this screen because YouTube has already been preemptively turned off for independent use.

Parents/guardians of students in grades 1-12 will also see a second new permission during registration that is related to all other Google owned additional services. Additional services which can have educational use are defaulted to ON for all students grades 1-12. Thus, selecting NO to this new permission screen will turn off ALL other Google services.

If you have general questions about the enrollment process, please contact the school your child will be attending. If you experience any issues during the online portion of the enrollment process, please email SynergyParentSupport@cusd200.org.

HopeWins!

8th grade students attended an assembly last Thursday to learn more about HopeWins, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to share hope and end the devastation addictions brings to families. The Clousings have transformed a family tragedy into a message of hope for students. Students leave the assembly with a t-shirt to remind them of the message. It reads on the front: ONEGOALONEHOPE, and on the back: NEVER above you, NEVER below you, ALWAYS right beside you.

Local Composer Visits Monroe

The Monroe Band Program is commissioning a piece of music to be written for our school. Local composer, Tim Loest, was here visiting our 7th and 8th grade band members on Tuesday, 4/15. He provided an update on his commissioned piece for us and has titled it "Guardians of the Golden Star." Our student-musicians were very excited to see him and listened to a rough draft of the entire work. The music is off to the editors now before it gets published!
