Heartfelt Gratitude

To the Monroe community,

As we head into Thanksgiving break, please accept my heartfelt gratitude for your continued partnership. I am thankful each day to serve Monroe as principal. I am thankful for the learning, growth, support, and encouragement of our students and staff. Monroe Eagles fly high together!

As a reminder, there are a couple of holiday sharing opportunities for those able (one here and one below): https://www.christmas-sharing.org/

Parents, did you know you can monitor your child's activity on their school-issued Chromebook? If you have not already done so, sign up for parent portal access.  Families can now opt in to receive weekly email summaries of their student’s web activity. Families can also elect to go one step further and sign up for an online account through our network’s content filter, Lightspeed, to see live web activity for their students. I highly recommend this; please take advantage of this access! This portal will also give families the option to pause the internet completely overnight if they so choose. It's an important tool for your toolbox; please take advantage of this opportunity, especially as we head into extended holiday breaks!

Finally, with the winter months just around the corner, we want to be sure everyone has a link to the District’s E-Learning Plan. This plan includes the schedule and expectations we follow should there be a need to close schools due to extreme weather conditions. We will review this plan with the students prior to winter break.

Please enjoy the pictures below of our cast and crew of Finding Nemo Jr. What an amazing production! Also pictured are the class winners of our Krispy Kreme fundraiser, our Battle of the Books Team, and the MVP of the 4th period basketball tournament!

From the Huettemann family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

Young Chefs

Our Young Chefs club has taken off at Monroe! We just finished our first session where 18 8th graders joined us after school on Wednesdays for 7 weeks and made delicious food including pico de gallo and guacamole, homemade pasta from scratch, cookies and muffins, homemade pizzas and grilled cheese! The next group of 8th graders start after Thanksgiving break. Thank you to Jen Leadaman for leading this club and our PTA for supplying the many kitchen utensils and supplies to make this a reality!
