There is so much to tell you about Monroe in October! We are already in the second quarter of the school year and our students are thriving. Report cards for quarter 1 will be available on ParentVUE by the end of this week. This week Thursday our 8th grade students will take the PSAT. This assessment allows students to demonstrate mastery of skills in order to get early feedback in the areas that matter most for college and career readiness. Results of this assessment help inform students of their progress and will serve as a guide for placement in high school courses. This assessment is one in a series of assessments students will take each year leading up to the SAT in their junior year.
We hope you enjoy the photos below of our fall concert series that included 357 band, choir, and orchestra students. That's 50% of our student population engaged in our music program! I am proud of their progress so far this school year and look forward to what they have in store for us in a couple of months. Congratulations to Mr. Bertrand, Mrs. Dewar, Mr. Novak, Ms. Schiele, and our Eagles on a job well done. Bravo!
Cross country recently wrapped up a successful season. Again this year we hosted hundreds of athletes at the cross country conference finals; it was a beautiful day perfect for running! Many students earned a PR as they crossed the finish line with pride. Our girls volleyball team had an exciting victory over Hubble in their final match of the regular season. Hearing the roar of the student section and seeing the team storm the court was enough to make me one proud principal! What school spirit! Congratulations to all of our coaches and student athletes, and a special thank you to Mr. McCormack, Monroe's Athletic Director.
Coming up next: spirit week, the halloween dance, the musical, boys basketball, wrestling, Veterans Day ceremony, and parent teacher conferences. For more information, please keep reading!
Go Eagles!
