Make Your Mark at Monroe

On Friday, September 1, we closed out our first spirit week of the year with an amazing pep assembly with the theme, "Make Your Mark at Monroe." It was full of fun, excitement, and provided an opportunity for students to learn about the many clubs, activities, and sports Monroe has to offer. Student connectedness is one of our top priorities as a school and district and we hope students were able to learn how they can get involved and make their mark at Monroe! We hope you enjoy the pictures from the assembly below.

As we settle into the school year, please consider the following tips and reminders:

  • Parents should check ParentVUE weekly to review student grades/progress.

  • Students should check StudentVUE multiple times per week to review grades/missing assignments.

  • Students should bring a fully charged Chromebook to school daily.

  • All Eagles should remember what it means to SOAR. Let's be respectful of self, others, and our nest.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Attendance Counts!

We'd like to take a moment to emphasize the importance of your child attending school each day. Students who attend school regularly typically demonstrate higher learning outcomes than those with poor attendance. Being present each day affords your child all the important experiences that come with attending school such as friendships, clubs, activities, and athletics. Students also learn responsibility and work ethic through consistent attendance. Please send your child to school every day unless he or she has a contagious illness or is running a fever. Throughout this year we will monitor each student’s attendance so that we can work with families when the number of absences puts a student at risk. Thank you always for your involvement in your child’s education!

Student Shout Out

Student Shout Outs!

Congratulations to Shantell Jackson for her leadership as Student Director in Performance Seminar. She is keeping her group organized and on task as they rehearse for their upcoming performance at Jefferson Early Childhood Center. Keep up the good work, Shantell!

Student Shout Outs

To Sawyer Meyer from Ms. Gaudette: Sawyer is a wonderful student! He is always willing to help his classmates and teachers. He takes pride in his work and always makes me smile!

To Vladyslav Leshek from Ms. Skibbe: I asked Vlad to go find a student in the hall after the 3:00 bell. The student had left quite a mess. After a few minutes, Vlad came back and said he could not find the student so he wanted to clean up the mess! He went above and beyond!

To Evelyn Ortega from Ms. McCollum: Evelyn is a great leader. She brought a new student (only been in the states for 4 months from Venezuela) to the heath office. She gave support and stayed to help me translate and was a comfort to her classmate.

Congratulations, Sawyer, Vlad, & Evelyn! To submit a student shout out, click here.

Staff Shout Outs!

To Dawn Will from Noelle Tortoriello: You're the best! Thank you for all your help!

To Dawn Will from Donna Skibbe: Dawn made me laugh for a really long time when she came into my class carrying bolt cutters. She told me and my students to 'carry on' as she circulated looking for a specific student to give him a new lock. The image was just so funny as it was unexpected with little context... I have not laughed that loud or for that long in a long time! She made my day in the most unexpected way!

To Christine Landek from Jody Field: Christine has worn many hats already this year...she is mentoring/assisting three new teachers and she has all new sixth graders in her class with one returning 7th grader. Her students are engaged, involved, and invested in their education even though they experience academic and behavioral challenges daily. Christine has been instrumental in our quest to help the Essentials programs in both middle schools be more equitable. And most of all, she is in tune with her student needs and a great friend/colleague to her team members. I love working with her!!!

Congratulations, Dawn & Christine! To submit a staff shout out, click here.
