Happy New Year!

Dear Monroe Families,

We've had a great week back at Monroe. Today marks the last day of 2nd quarter; we are officially halfway through this year!  You can expect report cards to be available in ParentVUE one week from today, Friday, January 16.

With the new quarter beginning on Monday, it's a great time to refresh those school supplies!  Please check in with your student to see what materials are needed.

We are also in need of Teaching Assistants at Monroe!  If you are interested in joining our amazing team, please click here to apply and click on the Monroe link.

A quick plug for the importance of daily attendance: We cherish each day of school with your child. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn, grow, and connect with their peers. So as we start 2026, please continue to ensure that your child has consistent attendance at school, as this plays an extremely important role in student success.  It is our hope that we can continue to have strong student attendance and engagement in all our school community has to offer.  Please know that if your family needs support or assistance to ensure your child attends school consistently, we are here for you.

Please keep scrolling to view important updates for 2026!

Inclement Weather Reminder

With the winter months upon us, we want to be sure everyone has a link to the District’s E-Learning Plan. This plan includes the schedule and expectations we follow should there be a need to close schools due to extreme weather conditions. We will review this plan with the students prior to winter break.

Let's Dance 2026!

Register now for Let's Dance! This program has been hugely popular at neighboring middle schools.  At Frankin they had over 100 kids participate saying it was their favorite thing! The music is current, and each week the kids have a blast.

What is it? It's an instructional dance program for 7th and 8th graders held in the evenings for 7 weeks in the Monroe Commons. There are separate times for 7th graders and 8th graders. 7th meets 6:30-7:45pm and 8th meets 7:45-9pm. Professional dance instructor Andy Fuzak will teach dances like Swing, Fox Trot, and the Electric slide to current music.

What makes it so memorable? The kids get to socialize without phones, dress up a little, and learn a new skill together. There is lots of laughter and fun (and of course, snacks).

Do the parents attend? Parents attend the last lesson on March 23rd to see the kids showcase what they have learned. In addition, please plan to chaperone at least one night.

Who attends? All 7th and 8th graders! Students should dress as they would for a semi-formal occasion (dress or skirt/nice slacks, khakis, dress shirt, etc.)

When is it? Program dates: Mondays, Feb. 2nd, 9th, 23rd and March 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd

New Feature Within ParentVUE Mobile App

We are excited to announce a fantastic new feature within our ParentVUE mobile app designed to make managing your student's attendance even more convenient!

While the traditional method of calling your child's school attendance line remains fully functional, you now have the ability to report planned absences directly through the ParentVUE app. This option will be available starting the week of January 12, 2026.

What This Means for You

This new digital option allows you to notify us in advance of any scheduled absences, such as illness, medical appointments, family travel, or other planned events. It’s a fast, easy way to communicate important attendance information without needing to make a phone call during busy hours.

How to Use the New Planned Absence Feature

Open the ParentVUE Mobile App on your smartphone or tablet. This can also be done via an internet browser on the web by going to this website.

Log in with your credentials.

Navigate to the Attendance section or click the Report Absences button.

Follow the prompts to enter the start date, end date, reason for absence, and any necessary comments. Note: leaving a note regarding the absence is required.

Submit the request.

Currently, ParentVUE can only record full day absences. If an absence will be a partial day, please note the time in the notes section (i.e. periods that will be missed for MS/HS) so that your child’s school can reflect that in their records.

Lastly, this attendance feature still adheres to adopted cut off times for excused absences as stated in each school’s student handbook.

We believe this new feature will be a significant time-saver and enhance our communication regarding student attendance. If you have not yet downloaded the ParentVUE mobile app, please search for "ParentVUE" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Thank you for your partnership in ensuring accurate and timely attendance records for all our students.

Sincerely,

Community Unit School District 200
