Halloween Parade and Parties

Halloween is coming soon! I want to share some expectations regarding Halloween costumes in order to help you prepare your child's costume for school.

Per the district elementary school student handbook, "Students may not wear masks or headgear which prevent the clear identity of the student or create a safety concern. Costume paraphernalia, such as theatrical props and imitation weapons, are not allowed. Costumes and/or make-up, which are considered threatening or otherwise inappropriate, are forbidden."

Students will participate in a parade beginning at 2:15, we will conduct the parade outside and parents can line up to view the parade. Parties will begin at 2:30 p.m. More information on the parade route and inclement weather plans will be shared soon!

Important Dates:

This year’s Love for Lowell was a HUGE success thanks to all the hard work from our students and their families. Together we raised $18,346 for our school! A special congratulations goes to our top three classes who raised the most money and will be celebrating with a Crumble Cookie party later this month:

3rd place: Mrs. Wood’s 4th Grade Class

2nd place: Mrs. Wollen's Kindergarten Class

1st place: Ms. Fitzpatrick’s 2nd Grade Class!

Playground Reminders

Please remember that during school hours (9:05AM-3:30PM) the playground and fields are closed. Many classes use these spaces during the school day and for safety reasons, we cannot have others in these areas at these times. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Animals on School Property

This is a friendly reminder that animals, with the exception of service animals, are not allowed on school property. Please refrain from bringing your pet with you at arrival or dismissal. The statement below can be found in the elementary student handbook and the board policy number is also listed.

In order to assure student health and safety, animals are not allowed on school property, except in the case of a service animal accompanying a student or other individual with a documented disability. This rule may be temporarily waived by the building principal in the case of an educational opportunity for students, provided that (a) the animal is appropriately housed, humanely cared for, and properly handled, and (b) students will not be exposed to a dangerous animal or an unhealthy environment. (Policy 6:100, Using Animals in the Educational Program)

Attendance Matters!

Attendance at school is vital to your child's continued academic success. We understand that sickness and appointments do occur from time to time and cause a child to miss school. In the event that your child is going to be absent from school, it is imperative that you call the office to report their absence.

If a student is not called in by a guardian within the first two hours of school, and we've made attempts to contact guardians and emergency contacts without success, we will contact the police to do a wellness check at the home.

Our phone number is 630-682-2085 or you can email Julia Rodriguez at juliaa.rodriguez@cusd200.org

Thank you!

Reflections

Lowell is looking for students who are interested in participating in the Reflections art competition. Reflections is a National PTA program which promotes art in our schools. Students of all abilities in grades K-5 are encouraged to enter.

To participate... create an original work of art in 1 of 6 categories (Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts) to reflect the theme "I Belong!"

Students participate in their grade division: Primary (Pre-K – Grade 2), Intermediate (Grades 3-5), or Accessible Arts (All grades welcome). Students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the Accessible Arts Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities.

All participants from Lowell will have their work displayed and will be given a participation award! For entry forms, rules, and additional details on each category, please CLICK HERE.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent teacher conferences are Thursday, October 9, 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday, October 10th, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Students will attend school on Thursday, but there is no student attendance on Friday. Parents can sign up for a 15 minute conference time with their child's teacher using this link. If you need a virtual option, still sign up for a time slot and then reach out to your child's teacher to arrange for a virtual meeting. Thank you.

Lowell Push Up Wall of Fame

Lowell PE is currently celebrating Lowell student’s ability to do ten pushups. We invite you to find a safe and creative place to have your child do ten pushups alone or with friends and/or family. Please take a photo of the tenth pushup, a big smile is required :-) Bring the 4 x 6 picture to PE and it will go up on the “Wall of Fame” in the gym hallway. The other students will try to figure out where the photo was taken. Please be sure to bring in the photo and give it to Mrs.Minser or Mrs. Radford. If it is sent via email, it probably won’t make it to the wall. Here’s your child’s chance to be famous at Lowell!
