Kane County Cougars Reading Program

The Kane County Cougars Reading Club Challenge is here! The Cougars baseball team is offering a reading program for elementary students. A student who chooses to participate is asked to read a total of 6 hours and complete a form. Rewards for completing this program are included in the information sheet that will be sent home. This reading program begins Jan. 20 and ends on March 20, 2026.  Lowell Game Day is scheduled for May 9, 2026. Please turn in your completed forms to your classroom teacher by Friday, March 20.  It's important to make sure your child's first and last name is legible on the form. A reading program sheet will be sent home with each student this week.  Please contact Mrs. McDonald (5M) at annemarie.mcdonald@cusd200.org with any questions. NOTE: This student reading challenge is optional. Online Registration for 2026-27 School Year

Online registration for the 2026-27 school year opens on Monday, January 12, for new students pre k-12th grade, including incoming kindergarteners from Jefferson ECC. Click here for more information and to begin the online registration process.

Upcoming registration for all returning students for the 2026-27 school year is scheduled to open in the spring. More information will be forthcoming.

 

Workshop for Parents and Families in Spanish 
Taller de Padres Y Familia en Espanol 

Wheaton/Warrenville Community Unit School District 200 Bilingual Parents are invited to a free, community-wide workshop on “Positive Psychology.” This session will be presented by psychologist Dr. Ferney Ramirez. Dr. Ferney Ramírez coordinates programs for families in the Chicago Area and various school districts in Illinois and is an author of 10 publications regarding mental health. The workshop will take place on Monday, February 9, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Johnson Elementary 2S700 Continental Drive, Warrenville. The workshop is called: Positive Psychology, Mindfulness Strategies to Reduce Stress, Anxiety, and Promote Well Being in these times. We hope you can join us for this wonderful workshop.

Se invita a los padres bilingües del Distrito Escolar Comunitario 200 de Wheaton/Warrenville a un taller comunitario gratuito sobre "Psicología Positiva". Esta sesión será presentada por el psicólogo Dr. Ferney Ramírez. El Dr. Ferney Ramírez coordina programas para familias en el área de Chicago y varios distritos escolares de Illinois, y es autor de 10 publicaciones sobre salud mental. El taller se llevará a cabo el lunes, 9 de febrero en la Escuela Johnson 2S700 Continental Drive, Warrenville, de 6:00 a 7:30 PM. El taller se titula: Psicología Positiva, Estrategias de Atención Plena para Reducir el Estrés, la Ansiedad y Promover el Bienestar en estos tiempos. Esperamos que pueda unirse a nosotras para este maravilloso taller.

 

Lowell to Host BOE Meeting! 

Lowell is hosting the Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, February 11th, at 7:00 p.m. We would love to see families join us.

 

Elementary Testing for the Program of Accelerated Curriculum and Enrichment (PACE)Grades 2-5

Second graders will be screened for PACE in February 2026 using the Cognitive Abilities Test. More information will follow in January 2026.  

Parents of second graders who are eligible for further PACE testing based on the Cognitive Abilities Test will be notified at the end of February to take further Iowa subtests as the next step for entry into the PACE program. 

In late February, into March 2026, the PACE Office will host testing for currently enrolled 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students.  Students in Grades 3-5 may be recommended for testing by their teacher and/or parent. The deadline for a parent to request PACE Testing is January 30, 2026 This testing, which will include the CogAT 8 and subtests from the Iowa Assessments.  Testing will qualify elementary students for participation in one of the following 2026-2027 classes:

4th and 5th grade PACE Mathematics
4th and 5th grade PACE Reading
6th grade Fast-Paced Mathematics
6th grade Fast-Paced Language Arts

Please Note – Students currently in PACE Program Classes do not need to re-test. Students currently attending a private school or homeschooled, but reside in the District 200 attendance area, are also eligible for PACE Program Testing. Parents will be notified by their child's school about testing dates & times before testing.
