Dear Hawthorne Elementary School Families,
We are excited to share that the snow has arrived just in time for December to start! We know students will be excited to play in the snow so we want to remind you of our expectations for recess.
We go outside unless the real feel temperature is below zero degrees. Students must have boots, snow pants, a jacket, hat, and gloves if they want to play in the snow. This includes the field and playground areas. Please allow time for your child to practice getting their snow gear on all by themselves tomorrow before school or this evening. Students without snow gear will play outside but will remain on the concrete area. If your child is in need of snow gear, please email Mrs. Talbot (Caren.talbot@cusd200.org) or call Hawthorne Elementary School at 630-682-2065.
At morning arrival tomorrow, please be patient. Mr. Armando does his best to ensure the sidewalks are cleared for our families walking to school. Our bus drivers work hard to support safe arrival for all students and may require a few extra minutes at arrival as students gather their winter gear. Thank you for your patience as we navigate these first days of snowfall.
Thank you! Holly Zimmer Principal, Hawthorne Elementary School
