Our Newest Hawthorne Hawks! |
We were thrilled to open our doors and hearts to our newest Hawthorne Hawks during Kindergarten Roundup at Hawthorne Elementary School! It was a joy to see so many smiling incoming kindergarten students and their families as they explored classrooms, met our dedicated staff, and began imagining the exciting year ahead.
Kindergarten is the start of a wonderful adventure filled with learning, friendship, and growth. We are so grateful to partner with our families and cannot wait to watch our newest Hawks soar as they begin their journey with us. Welcome to Hawthorne, the adventure starts now! |

Hawthorne Elementary School Staff Book Club |
Did you know that the dedicated teachers and staff at Hawthorne Elementary School participate in a monthly professional book study? This year, one group is reading Rethinking Disabilities in Mathematics, while another group is diving into Building Thinking Classrooms.
Facilitated by Michelle Fitzenreider, Hawthorne’s Math Coach, these book clubs provide an ongoing professional learning space where staff members explore innovative practices to better support and engage all learners. Through rich discussion and collaboration, teachers vertically articulate curriculum and instructional strategies across grade levels, reflect on their practice, and share ideas with one another.
We are proud of our team’s commitment to continuous growth and ensuring that every Hawthorne student receives thoughtful, inclusive, and high-quality instruction. |

The 3rd Annual Hawthorne Variety Show was a rousing success! We are incredibly proud of our 27 acts, featuring 53 talented student performers and supported by 24 dedicated backstage crew members. Our students’ courage, creativity, and teamwork were on full display, making it a truly memorable evening for our entire school community.
A very special thank you and shout-out to Molly Hall for her extraordinary work and dedication in bringing this event to life. From the earliest planning stages to the final curtain call, Molly did it all! Her organization, enthusiasm, and commitment to our students made the entire show possible. We are so grateful for the countless hours she invested to create such a meaningful experience for our students. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Hawthorne teachers and staff and to the parents who helped run the show: Mrs. Boroczk, Mrs. Callahan, Mrs. Hulett, Mrs. Keenan, Mrs. McChesney, Mrs. Porter, Mrs. Williams, and Mrs. Zmuda. Your time and support made the evening seamless and special.
This year, we were excited to host a cast and crew celebration party to honor all of our student participants and recognize their hard work and dedication. It was a wonderful way to celebrate their accomplishments together! Bravo, everyone! We cannot wait to see what our talented Hawks come up with next year! 🌟 |

Wheaton North & Hawthorne Buddies |
We are so grateful for the continued partnership between Hawthorne and Wheaton North High School through our After School Buddies Club! This special program brings together Wheaton North students and Hawthorne multilingual learners for an afternoon filled with connection, creativity, and fun.
Each session begins with a healthy snack generously provided by members of our community, helping fuel students for a positive and engaging afternoon. From interactive games and team-building activities to hands-on crafts and creative projects, there is always something exciting happening.
The Buddies Club is a wonderful opportunity for our students to build friendships, develop leadership skills, and strengthen our Hawthorne community. We are thankful for the high school mentors and community members who make this meaningful experience possible! |

❤️The Happy Heart Award❤️ |
Students at Hawthorne Elementary School are always learning and growing. One of the things we pride ourselves on at Hawthorne is the work we do to ensure students understand, demonstrate, and reinforce schoolwide expectations. At Hawthorne, students learn about the Hawthorne Way during the first week of school with Mrs. Zimmer. During the year, we work to reinforce the things we learn about the Hawthorne Way. The Happy Heart Award is a recognition ticket given to students who go above and beyond to demonstrate the Hawthorne Way during the school day. Students who earn this will receive a ticket with their name on it, the staff member who recognized them, and the reason they were recognized. The recognition portion will go home to celebrate with family.
Congratulations to this week's Happy Heart Award drawing winners! |
