IAR Math Assessment Information-Grades 3-5

Dear Families,

Our students in grades 3-5 will be participating in Math IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) testing on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week. This is an opportunity for students to demonstrate the growth and learning they have achieved throughout the year. You can help your child feel confident and prepared by supporting a few simple routines on testing days:

Punctuality: Please ensure your child arrives at school on time so they can begin testing in a calm and prepared environment.

Fully Charged Chromebooks: Students should bring their school-issued Chromebooks fully charged each day, as the assessment is completed online.

Healthy Habits: A good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast will help students stay focused and energized.

We are incredibly proud of the effort our students and staff demonstrate each day. These assessments are just one way for students to showcase their progress and achievements. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the main office.

Sincerely,
Holly Zimmer, Principal

Welcome Back Assembly

Hawthorne students and staff kicked off our week with a school-wide Behavior Expectation Refresher Assembly on April 6, bringing all students and staff together to reinforce that we are one united community committed to keeping Hawthorne a kind and safe place to learn. Students participated in a fun, high-energy Jeopardy-style game to review expectations, with class representatives joining the competition. We also launched our students version of the “Happy Heart” initiative, where students recognize staff.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting a positive school environment!

❤️The Happy Heart Award❤️

Students at Hawthorne Elementary School are always learning and growing. One of the things we pride ourselves on at Hawthorne is the work we do to ensure students understand, demonstrate, and reinforce schoolwide expectations. At Hawthorne, students learn about the Hawthorne Way during the first week of school with Mrs. Zimmer. During the year, we work to reinforce the things we learn about the Hawthorne Way.

The Happy Heart Award is a recognition ticket given to students who go above and beyond to demonstrate the Hawthorne Way during the school day. Students who earn this will receive a ticket with their name on it, the staff member who recognized them, and the reason they were recognized. The recognition portion will go home to celebrate with family.

Congratulations to this week's Happy Heart Award drawing winners!
