District 200 School Community,

For students in grades 1-12 and our Transition Program, and all our staff members, welcome to the 2023-24 School Year! We look forward to welcoming our youngest learners at Jefferson Early Childhood Center and our incoming kindergartners tomorrow.

I want to thank all of our parents for all you did to make sure students were ready for school today. I want to also thank all of our staff for everything you did to prepare for the start of this school year to ensure our buildings were clean, safe, and welcoming for our students. As some of you may know, we completed about $10M in facilities work across the District this summer; and that was no small feat given the short time window. We also recognize that many of our building offices and teachers put in a lot of time and effort to pack and unpack their schools and classrooms so that work could be completed. We are incredibly appreciative of our staff who made that extra effort prior to welcoming students today.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to offer a few updates and reminders for everyone.

Mobile App & Websites
Over the summer, the District launched a new mobile app that we hope will be a great resource and communication tool for our entire school community. The mobile app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play by searching Wheaton Warrenville Community Unit School District 200. Please watch this video tutorial for a brief overview of navigating the mobile app. Also over the summer, the District launched new websites for all of our schools. The new websites are integrated with our mobile app and offer additional communication tools for our schools through the live feed and news sections. We kindly ask for your patience as our principals and staff are working hard to learn how to use these new communication tools.

Follow Us on Social Media
Over the summer, we had many posts about retirements, facilities projects, new teachers, and more! We’ve started posting fun back to school photos. Don’t miss anything by following us on our social media channels: Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Community Engagement Opportunities
During the 2023-2024 School Year, we will be offering community engagement sessions to begin and further conversations about future facilities projects, primarily at 3 of our four middle schools. Community members will be invited to ask questions and share feedback so, together, we can determine the path forward in addressing facilities projects. Please look for more information soon and plan on participating in this important community engagement process as we continue our District’s positive momentum.

Again, welcome to the new school year. I hope you and your families had a chance for some fun and relaxation this summer. Here’s to a great school year!

Sincerely,
Dr. Jeff Schuler
