Each year, the District shares a Fine and Performing Arts Calendar complete with events at the two high schools that are open to the community to attend. At their meeting, Dr. Schuler shared the calendar with the Board and let the community know it is now posted on the District website.
Tuesday, October 10 marked the fourth and final community engagement session in the District’s initial round of gathering community feedback and input regarding potential projects at three of the District’s middle schools, Edison, Franklin, and Monroe Middle Schools. To learn more about facility needs at these schools, please take a moment to watch this overview video.
Community members who were unable to attend an engagement session are encouraged to visit the together200.net community engagement site to view the presentation, and videos detailing the needs at each school, and leave your feedback that is needed to determine a path forward, together.
At their meeting, Dr. Schuler reminded the Board that an initial report of community feedback gathered from engagement session surveys, as well as a phone survey conducted earlier this month, will be presented at the October 25, 2023, Board of Education Meeting.

Originally adopted in January 2017, this policy ensured that the Board would allocate an annual funding amount to address high-priority capital facilities projects. The Board of Education has continued to make progress in improving infrastructure to provide the best and safest possible learning environments. Since the summer of 2016 (FY17), the Board has spent $47 million, using a combination of operating dollars, federal grant dollars, and fund balance on high-priority capital facilities projects like roofs, mechanical systems, flooring, plumbing, and more. This spending is in addition to a new Jefferson Early Childhood Center that opened in August 2020. The updated Facilities Overview document is available on the District website.
