Beginning this school year, elementary schools will start at 9:05 a.m. Each elementary school will communicate with their school community regarding changes to arrival time and procedures.
Over the summer, the District launched a new mobile app that we hope will be a great resource and communication tool for our entire school community. The mobile app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play by searching Wheaton Warrenville Community Unit School District 200. Please watch this video tutorial for a brief overview of navigating the mobile app.
Also over the summer, the District launched new websites for all of our schools. The new websites are integrated with our mobile app and offer additional communication tools for our schools through the live feed and news sections. It is our hope that it makes it easier for parents to find information and stay up to date with information, celebrations, and news. We kindly ask for your patience as our principals and staff are working hard to learn how to use these new communication tools. If you have any questions or feedback about the websites and/or mobile app, please contact communications@cusd200.org.
Schools have the capability to send text messages to parents. Opting in to text messaging is easy! Parents should make sure they have a cell number listed in a “cell” field in ParentVue. If a cell number is listed as a home phone number, a second entry must be added for “cell” with the cell number included. Questions about opting in to text? Contact communications@cusd200.org.
Physical examination and immunizations are required before entering school in specific grades. Health requirement information can be found here. All documentation should be submitted to your school nurse as soon as possible, and no later than Friday, September 1. If you have questions, contact your school nurse. Please make a copy of your paperwork for your records.
District 200 recognizes that consistent access to technology is crucial to thriving in today’s educational landscape. With that is also the recognition that we take digital safety and security seriously as students navigate digital environments. To protect our students, District 200 implements multiple content filters and regularly monitors student web activity. While the District makes every effort to keep students on task during class time and safe from inappropriate materials, we know that family support would strengthen these efforts.
Families can now opt-in to receive weekly email summaries of their student’s web activity. Families can also elect to go one step further and sign up for an online account through our network’s content filter, Lightspeed, to see live web activity for their students. This portal will also give families the option to pause the internet completely overnight if they so choose. It is important to note that email summaries and online portal access are view only and do not allow families to selectively block websites or services.
For more detailed information and answers to commonly asked questions, please visit this website. If your family wishes to start the process of receiving weekly web activity summaries with the option to add online portal access, please fill out this form. All communication moving forward regarding web activity will come from Lightspeed. If you have any questions, please contact Jason Spencer, Executive Director of Innovation and Technology (jason.spencer@cusd200.org). Thank you for your partnership in helping to promote healthy digital habits with our students.
Beginning this school year, the District is utilizing PushCoin for school and meal fee collection. Please follow these instructions to set up your PushCoin account if you have not already done so.
The 2023-24 School Calendar can be found on the District website. Families and staff are encouraged to check the calendar for important dates related to Institute Days, holidays, etc.
All District 200 schools have a Library Learning Center (LLC) that contains books that students can check out. Each school and level has its own LLC schedule checkout process. Parents can learn more about your school’s schedule and process by visiting your LLC website or by contacting the school directly.
Destiny is the library management system used by all District 200 schools. This system is online and accessible to all parents and students through each school’s website. Destiny allows all parents and students to have access to the titles of books available in each school’s LLC and can be accessed by going directly to destiny.cusd200.org, clicking through the school website, or from a student’s classlink page. Parents do not need to be logged in to search the catalog, but students will need to log in for some of the more advanced features.
Students can log in to their Destiny accounts from any device with online access. From there, they can see all books that are checked out to them. They can also put holds on titles that are checked out. Each student can create their own Favorites List to keep track of books they would like to check out.
Steps for creating a favorite list:
Log in to your school’s Destiny catalog using your child’s District 200 login information.
Find and open the record for the book you wish to add to your favorites list.
Click on the three dots toward the right of the screen.
Select “Add to Favorites”
A student’s favorites list is accessible by choosing “My Stuff” at the top of the screen.
If there are particular titles in your school’s collection that parents don’t wish their child to read or are not sure they will make the distinction on their own, reach out to your child’s teacher and/or LLC Director. Parents can learn about Destiny and how to create a favorite list by viewing this video.
