Vision 2026 Dashboard Metrics and the Illinois School Report Card

On an annual basis, Mrs. Melissa Murphy, Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services, provides the Board of Education with an update on the progress of the Vision 2026 Strategic Plan strategies related to academic excellence. During her presentation, Mrs. Murphy gave an update on the areas of success and areas of focus related to academic excellence for the 2024-25 school year. She also highlighted the key components of the Illinois State Report Card results. 

A few celebrations of academic success within CUSD 200 include:

  • CUSD 200 math and reading scores for third through eighth grades exceed pre-pandemic scores. 

  • Eighty-one percent of graduating high school seniors earned both high school and college level credit by achieving a C or better in an early college course.

  • Six schools have earned an exemplary designation, including two Title I schools. This is an increase from only two schools earning this designation in 2019.

Throughout her report, Mrs. Murphy also highlighted areas of focus related to academic excellence for the 2024-25 school year.

Special Education Stakeholder Engagement Report

This past July, Community Unit School District 200 welcomed Alexis Hanson as the new Executive Director of Special Education. In an effort to analyze strengths, needs, and areas for improvement within CUSD 200 special education, Mrs. Hanson conducted a series of engagement opportunities with a variety of stakeholders groups. During the meeting, Mrs. Hanson gave a presentation on the results, and identified areas of focus for the special education department.

A few areas of strength within the special education department include:

  • Parents appreciate being seen as equal partners in their child's education and are feeling satisfied with the services provided to their children. 

  • Teaching assistants feel valued for their contributions and feel connected to their team within the special education department. 

  • Certified staff members feel communication at the team level to support ongoing problem solving and collaboration is strong. 

Throughout her report, Mrs. Hanson also highlighted areas of focus for the future to improve special education within CUSD 200.
