Host School Report

The December 11, 2024, Board of Education meeting was hosted by Edison Middle School. Principal Rachel Bednar gave an overview of highlights at Edison so far this year. Edison’s choir also performed a few holiday songs for the Board of Education and audience members.

Superintendent’s Report

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Schuler began his report by taking time to extend his gratitude and give recognition to the City of Warrenville, Warrenville City Manager Ms. Cristina White, and Warrenville Mayor Dave Brummel for their partnership with our Career Pathways program. Each year, the City of Warrenville provides high school students with valuable job shadowing and internship experiences as they explore their career interests for the future. On behalf of the CUSD 200 community, we thank the City of Warrenville for providing our students with real-life work experience.   

Ms. White and Mayor Brummel were presented with a certificate of appreciation for being valued community partners.

Student Ambassadors Report

The Wheaton North High School Student Ambassadors, Abigail Williams, and Carla Fonseca Gonzalez, and the Wheaton Warrenville South Student Ambassadors Katelyn Groves, Lauren Dedio and Max Dudick, provided the board with a presentation on good news, updates and feedback on a variety of topics from their respective schools.  

Approval of School Calendars for 2025-26 and 2026-27 

During the meeting, the board approved the 2025-26 and 2026-27 calendars as presented. The calendars were created after receiving input from students, staff and community members via an online survey. The calendars can be viewed by clicking on the links below:

Approval of the 2024 Tax Levy 

The Board approved the 2024 Tax Levy as presented. The levy proposal was previously discussed with the Board Finance Committee and presented to the Board of Education on November 13, 2024. Prior to the vote, Dr. Brian O’Keefe, Assistant Superintendent for Business Operations, also provided the Board with a brief presentation on the levy.

Behavior Wellness Presentation

Dr. Chris Silagi, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, provided the Board with a presentation on behavior wellness, a key component of CUSD 200’s comprehensive SEL Framework. The presentation highlighted classroom and school-wide behavioral frameworks, programming, strategies and considerations for the future.

Approval of New High School Curriculum Content

The Board approved the following new high school curriculum content:

  • AP Precalculus - A new high school course offered by the College Board to prepare students for college-level calculus. This course is a comprehensive preparation for AP Calculus AB or BC and is ideal for students aiming to study STEM fields in college.

  • Social Media Marketing - A dual credit course connected to the Marketing Pathway. Students who take this course have the opportunity to earn three hours of college credit in MARKET 1150 through College of DuPage (COD). 

  • Introduction to Literature - A Transferable General Education Dual Credit Course where students can earn 3 credits for Humanities. This is an elective for seniors.

  • Project Lead the Way Engineering Essentials - Project Lead the Way (PLTW) offers a comprehensive Engineering Pathway for high school students, featuring a series of courses aimed at building engineering skills and preparing students for post-secondary studies or careers in STEM fields. The introductory course, Engineering Essentials, gives students a foundational understanding of engineering, covering various disciplines and essential skills.

Board Approves to Post Revised Policies

At their meeting, the Board approved 19 revised policies to be posted for public review and comment, and approved one revised policy. To view the revised policy, click here.
